I am a Madison-area writer specializing in art, travel, homes, family and features topics. I freelance for a variety of magazines, including Madison Magazine, BRAVA, On Wisconsin, Letters & Science, Experience Wisconsin and Lakeshore Living.
For five years, I ran Northerly, an online magazine celebrating family life in Wisconsin that I co-founded. Each month, I wrote, edited and shared stories about families, travel, perspectives and local businesses.
And my books, 100 Things to Do in Madison Before You Die, first and second editions, highlight the coolest and most timeless elements of the city, bucket-list style.
Previously, as a writer in the College of Letters & Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, I crafted stories about students discovering their passions, faculty pursuing their life’s work and alumni at the top of their game. And prior to that, I served as the managing editor of Madison Magazine, where I chronicled the city’s dynamic arts scene, covered lifestyle topics, worked with freelance writers on perfecting their stories and collaborated with designers to create the unique magic of words and images coming together. I also appeared weekly on WISC-TV in a Live at Four segment touting the best things to do each weekend in the city.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with honors and degrees in journalism and art history, and earned a master’s degree in journalism from Stanford University.
